Baby, it’s cold outside (and inside!)

January 11th, 2010

The cold weather slowed us down a little, cement in the front lobby was to be poured on Friday, Jan. 8, but to cold!  So today we see both the cement being poured and the new ceiling tiles being installed in the Auditorium!

The Putzmeister is not being used since this is a ground level installation, I am a little disappointed but not much!

Happy New Year everyone!  The cold weather is not helpful, but at least it stopped raining (except Christmas day!)  We continue to make progress although right now it is mostly work by the plumbers and electricians so our photo opportunities are few!  Getting ready to pour the cement for the floor of the new lobby entry!  Hopefully the weather will cooperate!  More pictures of the putzmeister could be coming soon!  The new grid for the ceiling tiles inside the auditorium is almost completed and work begins on the rigging for the stage!  Dry, warm weather would help a lot!

There is always plenty of heavy machinery at work!  Now that we have had a few days of dry (but cold!!) weather, work has begun on back filling the area for the new main lobby.

December 16, 2009 here comes the sun!

December 16th, 2009

DSCN1777Finally a sunny Wednesday, our first in about six weeks!  A lot of demolition has taken place the last few days, in this photo they are demolishing the Henderson St. entrance, making way for an entire new door frame and door.

DSCN1782

The main steel structure for the new lobby is in place, the cement floors have been poured on the first and second balconies and workers begin back filling on the main entrance.  Inside work continues on our new offices and dressing rooms, we hope to be in our new offices the first week of January.  Once we move out of our offices on the main level, the demo guys will be back to take out walls to begin construction of the new concession stand.

December 15, 2009 more rain!!!

December 15th, 2009

DSCN1763DSCN1762

My favorite big machine was back on site last week!! The Putzmeister!  9 truck loads of cement were poured last week for the floors on the first and second balconies and a retaining wall.  It seems that every week we get about 2 and a half days of good weather and the rest is rain!

DSCN1770

Also last week they began the work to tear out the ramp that went to the lower level.  The new handicapped ramp will go in at this location making it easier for people with disabilities to access both the new box office and the front entrance of the Township.

December 3, too much rain!

It has been cold and damp but the steel work continues on the lobby addition!

DSCN1736

Sparks fly!  With most of the steel in place, the welders begin their work!

DSCN1734

This photo is of the new cross over corridor part of the backstage addition.  With this addition, performers will be able to go from stage left to stage right without disturbing the performance, in the past performers had to cross from behind the back curtain, this will give us more performance room on the stage.

This week the old ramp to the lower level on the Henderson St. side of the Township will be filled in.   In the lower photo cement, is poured to reinforce the existing cement walls that will be filled in and the new, more accessible disabled ramp will be installed.  The new ramp will provided access to the new box office and main entrance to the Township, the lower level will be accessible by the new elevator which will access all four levels of the Township Auditorium
